Course Overview
Increase Your Brainspan is a four-week online course from Preventive Neurology, taught by Dr. Kellyann Niotis, preventive neurologist, and Hollie Hristov, FNP. It turns the latest research on brain health into practical steps you can take now to protect your brain as you age.
Each session is a recorded live class with clickable chapters, key takeaways, downloadable session notes and a full transcript.
Week 1: Cholesterol & Cardiovascular Health
Why the health of your heart and blood vessels is really about the brain. Dr. Niotis explains how plaque builds up in the arteries, how to read a cholesterol panel, why ApoB matters, what APOE4 means for cholesterol, and how to think about blood pressure as you age.
Week 2: Nutrition & Supplements
What to eat for a healthier brain, and how to think about the supplements you take.
Week 3: Sleep
Why sleep is one of the strongest levers for brain health. Dr. Niotis and Hollie Hristov, FNP, explain what happens in each stage of sleep, how accurate sleep trackers really are, what good sleep looks like, the most common things stealing your sleep, which sleep disorders need attention, and which medications and supplements are safest for the brain.
Week 4: Your Questions Answered
Your questions, answered. Dr. Niotis and Hollie Hristov, FNP, work through the most-asked questions from the series: the cholesterol balance test, cholesterol targets and statins for APOE4 carriers, everyday nutrition, which supplements are worth it, lab targets, GLP-1 drugs and the brain, and hormone therapy around menopause.
